"Rebuilding Together Providence collaborated with Rhode Island School of Design in Spring 2003 to revitalize William D'Abate Elementary School. As part of this project, I was chosen to create a mural design for the cafeteria, to assist with locating volunteers, and to plan artwork for other areas of the school.

Excluding preparatory work, this mural was executed in the space of approximately seven hours with the help of some thirty volunteers, including children.

",

"The science teacher at Martin Middle School, Rochelle Larghi, posted on the job site for Rhode Island School of Design that she would like someone to paint a mural at the school. She was willing to offer supplies, and I was looking for a project to do, so I gladly accepted. Soon after beginning the project, I consulted with the local Home Depot and they donated paint for the project, relieving the financial burden off Ms. Larghi.

I began the project in September 2002, and worked a few hours a week until January 2003, allowing the students to see the process of mural-making. I wanted the mural to be a lasting addition to the school, but something that would be special for the students there that year. Each of the teachers' students (about 70 in total) made drawings of their favorite subjects of science that I integrated into the mural.",
